Abstract
Erythroxylum monogynum leaf hydroalcoholic extracts were screened for phytochemicals. Tannins, glycosides, flavonoids, steroids and phenols were observed in the extract. Free radicals that are generated in the human body cause drastic changes. Antioxidants can help to fight against these free radicals and protect the body from oxidative stress. The medicinal plants are very good source of the antioxidants. The present work revealed that the plant Erythroxylum monogynum extract has antioxidant activity by inhibiting the DPPH free radicals.
